In the spring of 2007, we began a discussion about co-authoring a bookpossibly finishing the one started over ten years ago. Brenda began pondering how to fit this into her busy schedule. What a relief when one morning in meditation, like a breath of fresh air to her over-scheduled mind, an intuitive flash said, “You only have to write one-half of a book, both of you already have a lot of it written, and your little daily journal, The Living Code, is the perfect title.”
Our joint writing was a labor of love and excitement as our connection with Divine Spirit grew even stronger. We both knew that it was time to write the insights from our personal and joint stories and share our Spiritual journey. We had to take the risk of feeling vulnerable as we shared some of our personal stories.
This book is meant to be read from the heart, which will enable your pondering spirit to connect with the Spirit behind the written words. Our writing style as guided by Divine Spirit, is more the intuitive wayfree style, if you will; we wrote what was placed in our hearts.
Writing this book on the physical level has been a great learning experience in helping us move into a spiritual writing style. This means that we were taken away from the traditional way of writingfrom the mind, to the intuitive way of writingfrom the heart. We then joined each other on an inner level which we called our “Inner Writing Room” to simultaneously write and co-edit with Divine Spirit.
In our Inner Writing Room we experienced many things and never knew what to expect, as periodically, when we arrived, things had changed. It varied from the presence of our editing guides and a room full of people one day, to showing up one morning to an empty room. Startled, we asked what was going on. Suddenly, we saw the completed book on a reading standemitting a glowing white light. Then, for some time, the room was full of people reading the book. They shared it with others, and the fire of expansion was lit as they took it out into the world.
As the book progressed, we needed to meet more often, so we began a regular early-morning schedule via the telephone, then, thankfully, it got easier when we changed to the Skype Internet Program. We were grateful for the new tech-savvy world of Skype, laptops, wireless, and email. Our job was so much easier than when we first started to co-author a book in the mid-nineties with only one computer.
When it came time for us to edit, what we had written, we asked to see the final manuscript in our Inner Writing Room. On the physical level, as we looked at the chapter we were editing on our computers, one of us would read it out loud as if reading from the finished book in the Inner Writing Room, and the other would be listening to the rhythm and flow of what was being said while viewing a copy on her computer. On many occasions the one reading would say words that were not on the computer copy. This was our confirmation that the inner copy we were reading was indeed slightly different from the outer physical copy. Anytime we couldn’t seem to get it right, we would reconnect to the Inner Writing Room and the creative flow would start again. We seldom experienced writer’s block because one of us always seemed to have the right words to keep the flow going.
As time permits, we will add to this section as we transcribe the journal we kept during our writing process of the many inner and outer adventures in our writing process with Divine Spirit.
